About Us

Hi, I’m Rachael —owner of Mutts and Struts, lifelong animal lover, and the trusted pet sitter among my family and friends long before this ever became a career.

I’ve always had a deep love for animals. Growing up, our home was filled with pets of all kinds—fish, hamsters, cats, dogs—and caring for them quickly became a natural part of my daily life. I was often the go-to person whenever friends or family needed someone reliable to look after their pets, and it never felt like a chore—it felt like home. That passion eventually led me to Norfolk County Agricultural High School, where I studied marine biology simply because I was fascinated by the ocean and everything that lives in it.

After high school, I explored a few different paths, including psychology, before realizing that my true calling had paws. In 2017, I began walking dogs, thinking it would be a short-term role while I figured out my next step. But it turned out to be exactly where I was meant to be.

That same year, I met Mary—a wonderful mentor and friend—who later invited me to join her pet care business after the pandemic. When she chose to move in a new direction, I had the amazing opportunity to take over and continue the work we both cared so deeply about.

Today, I’m proud to be building a small, client-focused business rooted in trust, compassion, and personalized care. Whether I’m out on a walk, stopping by for a visit, or getting to know a new pet, my goal is to provide thoughtful service that gives both animals and their people peace of mind. This work brings me so much joy—and I’m excited to keep growing, one happy tail at a time.
